The Burrage Mansion is one of the Back Bay’s grandest properties, attracting residents ranging from titans of business to former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. And now the football star’s former three-bed, three-and-a-half bath unit is officially on the market for $6,995,000.
The French Chateauesque-style mansion was built in 1899 as the winter home of attorney and industrialist Albert C. Burrage, who commissioned architect Charles Brigham to build him a home “that would be a reflection of his personal wealth and success as an entrepreneur.” Brigham adorned the exterior with nearly 50 dragons and gargoyles, 30 cherubs, and lion, eagle, and human heads carved into the elaborate stonework, according to historic documents.
